I took some time yesterday to think about my daily routine. It has adjusted a whole lot since changing jobs - for the better - but it still has some adjusting to do. I realized while I am far, far happier at this gig, and I am paid better as well, I spend a lot of my day working and putting clients first. While this isn't a bad thing whatsoever, this new place has an inherent culture required from all employees to have a work/life balance. It is a new concept for me and I've dedicated myself starting yesterday to making myself available to my family outside of work because while I have always been able to work work 24/7, they deserve my time when I'm not on the clock.

All this means is I am going to make yet another adjustment to the bar I hold myself to meet. I can be a powerhouse at work as my clients and supervisors notice and still ensure my family gets my time. They deserve it more than anyone.

Your significant other and your kids deserve that over everyone else. Make time for them. It doesn't matter what is done in that time, just make time for them.
